Europe Day

 Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

Today I've something for this Daring Cardmakers' challenge to share:

Celebrating Europe !
This week we've been remembering wartime sacrifices whilst
celebrating the 80th anniversary of the formal surrender of
Hitler's forces and the end of WW2 in Europe on 8 May 1945

Today (9th May) is Europe Day, recognising and celebrating
the huge diversity of the continent.

So celebrate VE Day OR pick any of the 44 European
countries to feature
in some way on your project this week

I watched some of the VE Day 80 parade in London on TV on Monday.  It;s sobering to think of the sacrifices so many people made to bring an end to WW2.

I was very moved by the presence in the parade of a group of soldiers from Ukraine reminding us that another tyrant is waging war and trying to claim a land he has no right to.  They represented Ukrainian soldiers currently training here in the UK, and I can only imagine what was going through their heads as they marched.

So I made my card to say "Thinking of You" to Ukrainians everywhere and to say. You are not forgotten

Ive used the colours of the Ukrainian flag and the national flower of the country to create this card. Hopefully the sentiment (taken from Google translator) actually does read 'Thinking of You'
The yellow and blue background was inked on a spare piece of white card, I used a piece of washi tape to keep the colours separate
The sunflower has several layers of the petal section and I added extra length ot the stem by using two die cuts
To finish I added some matching twine and a few tiny punched hearts

I used:

White card
Blue and yellow ink
green and brown Bazzill cardstock
(very old!) Sunflower die from Joanna Sheen
Yellow and blue waxed twine
pc generated sentiment
