Dancing Apple Pencil Pot

  Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

I've another of my May club projects for Spellbinders to share today and this time I'm using the May Glimmer of the Month as well as some of the dies from dies the May Small Die of the Month

I created a Teacher Thank You shaped like a 'pencil pot'

Last week I made my little swatch set of the new 'Colorwheel' cardstock that Spellbinders released recently.  Mine is very simple; I cut a narrow strip from each colour in the pack and then a 6cm piece from each of them. These I mounted on slightly longer strips of white card, wrote the name and colour number on the reverse and put them all on a book ring, with a loop of twine so I can hang them on the knob of one of my craft cupboards

I kept all the remaining card strips clipped together so they can be used when the opportunity arises - like making the striped pencil pot for this little card! The pot is actually made using a die from the Arch Labels and Tag die set

To make the base for the shaped card I folded the card stock, placed the top of the die so it hung over the fold then ran it through my die cutter a couple of times, this way the top edge doesn't cut.  I then decided how tall the pot shoud be and cut the curved lower edge off too - so the card would stand up!  I also cut a plain piece of card to the same shape and used this to glue some of those leftover strips too.

Once I'd trimmed the spare from around the edge I added the 'pencils'  to look as though they are in the pot.
The pencils are also  made using some of thoes card strips; this time I used the plate from the Glimmer of the Month, this comes with a cutting die to cut out individual pencil shapes and also some handy sentiment strips
I foiled the strips of coloured card, and also a set in wood coloured card with black foil, then trimmed down the coloured sections to mat onto the wood ones, cutting the pencil points free hand to stick in place!

I made the apple using dies from the Small Die of the Month and now I know how to make them, I couldn't resist making the apple dance on a 'wobbler'
