Billions of Butterflies

Hello

Welcome to my little crafting place!

It's my dear friend Shabneez's turn to set the challenge for the Daring Cardmakers this week:

This week I am challenging you to use butterflies on your cards.

I don't think I've seen as many butterflies this summer in the garden before.  I'm a huge fan of butterflies and I'd love to see them on your cards - the more, the merrier!

If you're anything like me, you'll use them to add interest to your cards or as a focal point.

To begin I made a paintstroke background using watered down Nuvo mousse in a pink shade.
I cut  a 'swoosh' shape with edging dies from a piece of card hot-foiled with a dotty hot-foil stamp and both pink and silver foils.
I used three sizes from a dotty circle die cut in silver glitter card and adhered them on the card
From sveral shade of pink card I cut three butterflies, they are from different die sets - I have quite a few butterfly dies, they are a big favourite!
The sentiment is from a Spellbinders Glimmer stamp and cut hot foil set
To finish I added a few tiny circles and stars cut from silver and datk pink card

If you'd like to buy anything from Spellbinders it would be fab if youd use my Affiliate Link  - it doesn't cost you anything but it helps me buy more stash and is much appreciated!

Apologies for the rubbish photos, I tried a couple of times but couldn't do better, I guess because I wanted the butterflies to stand out and this makes a lot of shadow!

Thank you so much for coming by

Pearl

Hello

Welvome to my little crafting place!

It's my turn to set the challenge for the Daring Cardmakers this week:

Pearl

A couple of weeks ago Hubby and I celebrated our 30th (Pearl) Anniversary - wow, where did that time go?

So this week I'd like you to use the word 'PEARL' for your inspiration.
I had a think and came up with a few ideas; using flat-backed pearls, pearl strings, pearl buttons, creating backgrounds with pearlescent paints, mousse or card, Mosaics with pieces of abalone (Mother of Pearl) shell,

Click Here for some ideas from the design team

First I die cut a square of pearlised card for the centrepiece of this card, then  a heart from the same card.  I glued flat-backed pearls around the edge of the heart, then when it was dry, adhered in place.

The sentiment was cut using a couple of different dies sets from the same card and added to the card.

To finish I ried a bow from narrow matching ribbon and glued in under the heart.

This isn't the card I made for Hubby, but I had this idea later and to be honest I prefer it!

Jam Jars!

Hello
Thanks for visiting.

I’m sharing my card for the latest Daring Cardmakers Challenge today and this week Joanne says:

All Taped Up

Joanne here again this week, and today I’d like you to use some sort of tape as you create your masterpiece.
It might be decorative washi, a technique such as faux leather with masking tape, dry wall tape as a stencil — there are loads of different types of tape and lots of crafty possibilities.
Show us your creative take on tape!
Click Here for some ideas from the design team

I've had this die set sitting on my desk for aged, waiting for me to get round to using it.  It's day finally came.

Another time I'd make the jar to look more like a pottery container, I'm not sure the glass effect works but I had the jam-jars I decorated for the tables at our Afternoon Tea Party in mind when I started making this.
I filled my jars with lavendar and rosematy from the garden and then just needed to pick a few flowers to make them look bright and colourful.  I'm no flower arranger but I was quite chuffed at how they looked.

The die set is from Spellbinders and called Mason Jar and Lavender
I made it to be kind of a shaped card, but it evolved rather strangely in the end!
The washi tape element is the patterned piece around the jar, the lid ad also some of the tiny flower petals
I added rffia and Bakers' twine around the jar and made a little 'Thank you' card using hot foil stamps from Yana's Special Sentiments set

Snowglobe Blizzard Shaker Card

 Hello

Thanks for visiting.
I've another Christmas project to show you today, again using dies from the Classic Christmas collection from Spellbinders

. Please note that of you use any of the Spellbinders direct links in this post I may receive a small commission - it doesn't cost you anything but it helps me buy more stash so is much appreciated!
There's a UK based shop now, so you can use the 'Visit Our UK Store' button at the top right of any page on the Spellbinders site

This time I've made a Snowglobe shaker card

I've never really 'cracked' the art of shaker cards, I always manage to get in a mess, but I thought the  Spellbinders Bottlebrush tree Duo would be perfect for a  'snow falling' scene.

For the background I used white texture paste with plenty of glitter added,  some of the tiny stars from the die set and some little white punched circles.

Next I cut the Bottlebrush Trees Duo background in white glitter card and the upper section in silver

The poinsettia and holly leaves come from the Christmas Bird Poinsettia die set

Pink Christmas Joy

Hello

Thanks for visiting.
It's that time of year when the new Christmas products are being released and I'm very happy to share some of my Affiliate projects with you here

. Please note that using any of the Spellbinders direct links in this post I may receive a small commission - it doesn't cost you anything but it helps me buy more stash so is much appreciated!
There's a UK based shop now, so you can use the 'Visit Our UK Store' button at the top right of any page on the Spellbinders site

Today I'm sharing a project using dies and one of the Glimmer hot foil Stamps from the Classic Christmas Collection by Spellbinders

This Christmas Bird Poinsettia die set is right up my alley - what's not to love about a set with a gorgeous poinsettia, a load of fabulous foliage dies and the cutest little bird you can make up in lots of different ways, oh and a sweet (pardon the pun) candy cane too!
I love the versatility of this collection of Christmas themed Glimmer sentiments
In the set you get the die to cut each of the background shapes, along with the large sentiment word in a fancy font and the small message in capitals.  So you can foil and cut as in my sentiment on this card or you can mix and match as you like, maybe even with Glimmer dies from other sets...

I love the way the little bird stands on' the sentiment piece!

I really love how this turned out! Pink isn't a colour I usually use for Christmas but it seems to work pretty well for this, what do you think?

I'm going to use those Glimmer sentiments a lot this year, I think.  I'm planning on making a sheet with the fancy font words on so I can simply cut them up to use as required, making another sheet with the fancy and plain sentiments on so I can cut them in simple rectangles as well as using them as on this card along with the backing die.

If you've other ideas I'd love to hear them!

Christmas in July

 Hello

Thanks for visiting.
Somehow in the melee of holidays and anniversary celebrating I missed blogging some cards made for recent Daring Cardmaker challenges so I'll be checking back and doing some catch up posts over the next few days.

This time its the card I made for Dawn's Christmas in July challenge which coincided (happily ) with receiving new dies from the Classic Christmas collection from Spellbinders.
Well it would be rude not to get busy with them, wouldn't it

This Christmas Bird Poinsettia die set is definitely one that would have been on my shopping list if it hadn't been sent to me to try!
I mean, its got a gorgeous poinsettia, a load of fabulous foliage dies, the cutest little bird to make up as you like and even a sweet candy cane too!

I chose a sentiment from the beautiful Christmas Die & Glimmer Sentiments set

I cut the word Season''s from gold card, hot-foiled GREETINGS in gold foil, and cut the background piece once in white, and then cut again in red to make it stand out on the white card.

In the set you get the die to cut each of the background shapes, along with the large sentiment word in a fancy font and the small message in capitals.  So you can foil and cut as in my sentiment on this card or you can mix and match as you like, maybe even with Glimmer dies from other sets...

.

Just so you know:

I'm on the Spellbinders Affiliate program so if you - very kindly - use THIS link to the Spellbinders site (or any direct links in this post) I may receive a small commission - it doesn't cost you anything but it helps me buy more stash so is much appreciated!
