Black and White

Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

Today I'm sharing the card I've made for our nephew's birthday.  As a Newcastle United fan its been an exciting year - what with them actually winning something at last!  Oh, how happy my dad would have been to see that!

Anyway - to echo their famous black and white striped kit I used 2 different sized slatted squares dies from Craft Addictionuk plus a couple of dies from their Tiny Tags set too. The little sentiment was also from the tag set but I hot-foiled it in silver. The other elements are a bit of a random mix of dies I've accumulated over the years.  Years ago when I used my Silhouette Cameo more often I cut a whole bunch of footballer silhouettes in different colours and put the spares in a bag, which I actually remembered about because CA also have  die sets of sporting silhouettes.  Amazingly I found them in one of the drawers so was able to add one to the mix.

There's also blue and yellow in the kit and badge so a good excuse to use a little of those colours too.

Various football themed dies

Another card with Silhouette Cameo footballers on

Autumn Owl

Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

This time I'm sharing a very simple card using the fab owl seal from the Wax Seal of the Month club from Spellbinders.  I found a lovely Autumnal digital paper to use for the background and cut a narrow panel, matted it onto light brown and gold,

As usualwhen I get a new seal I started by having a bit of a play session. I use different techniques and wax bead colours and find out what works best,

. This kit comes with the Must-Have Wax Beads Mix Basic which has  a really useful mix of black, white, silver and gold beads.  Here's my first batch of seals; you'll see some are simple pour and stamp, some are two layer pour and scrape, and some I tried to use a couple of coloursfor the feathers. I tried a bit of colour-mixing for the feathers

I chose to use a simple gold stamped seal for this card, but I added more shading with copper and gold glass pens and some green on the twig.

I fixed some lengths of waxed twine and gold thread to the back of the seal, then tucked the ends under one side of the upper panel, then glued this to the dark brown card blank.  The other ends were trimmed and left loose.

 Materials

 Other

Dark Brown card blank
Light Brown and Gold card for matting
Digital paper by Abroutique via Etsy
Glass Pens
Waxed Twine, Gold Thread

Hey Pumpkin!

  Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

For this project I've used goodies from the September Small Die of the Month and Glimmer of the Month  clubs fromSpellbinders

For the background I hot-foiled the Glimmer club plate using the lovely Copper foil that is part of the kit on to pale blue card. I also hot-foiled one of the kit's sentiments at the same time. The white card blank was inked around the margins with a deep midnight blue ink - the colour is quite a bit deeper in real life.  Once dry the background was glued in place.

Next I cut and made up the pumpkin and some of the flower and foliage elements, and created the sentiment section. Once I'd decided on my arrangement they were all adhered to the card

 Materials

from Spellbinders;

includes Copper foil

card from
for die cutting

Scalloped strip from
Vintage Flower Shoppe collection

 Other

White card blank
pale blue card for foiling
extra coloured cardstock for die cutting
scrap of copper coloured card for sentiment

Be Flamboyant

  Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

I've another card using the new Spellbinders clubs for Septmeber.  This time it's the Wax Seal of the Month club in the spotlight, with the Small Die of the Month in a supporting role.

I've always had a soft spot for owls, so when this new seal arrived I was sooo happy!

As usual I started off by plating around with the seal and different techniques. This kit comes with the Must-Have Wax Beads Mix Basic which has  a really useful mix of black, white silver and gold beads, so for some I've used those and for others I dipped into my ever growing wax beads collection!

Having made a whole lot of seals in 'owl' colours, I went a bit off piste and made this next bunch, which as you can see I've started to cut away from most of the wax.  It's very easy to cut wax with scissors if you just want to use part of the seal

I'd found the perfect quote from Coco Chanel about wearing the colours that suit you the best - I imagine she was trying to tell people that just becase a colour is the fashionable one this season, you'd be better off avoiding it if it makes you look ill!
Anyway, I've used it to give my wax owls the excuse to wear some unusual plumage!

The background is a  woodgrain design from a set of digital papers. I set the owls on a couple of branches cut using a very old Spellbinders set. Along the top of the card are leaves cut using the September Small Diof the Month

Next I printed the quote on the pc and added plenty of coloured banner shapes and twine to keep to the colourful theme

 Materials

from Spellbinders;

includes
September Small Diof the Month

 Other

White  Cardstock
Woodgrain Digital paper
coloured cardstock for die cutting
pc generated sentiment
Waxed Twine

Watchful

  Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

I've another card using the new Spellbinders clubs for September.  This time it's the Wax Seal of the Month club in the spotlight, with the Small Die of the Month and Glimmer of the Month in supporting roles.

I've always had a soft spot for owls, so when this new seal arrived I was sooo happy!

As usual I started off by playing around with the seal and different techniques. This kit comes with the Must-Have Wax Beads Mix Basic which has  a really useful mix of black, white, silver and gold beads, so for some I've used those and for others I dipped into my ever growing wax beads collection!

The owl on this card started out as one of the white on green 2 layer (our and scrape) seals, but I added silver and copper and even a bit of gold to try and get variation in the feather colours.

For the main background I reverse-foiled the piece of foil I'd already used to make another card.  I actually just used the back of this month's Glimmer plate to do it and was quite surprised when it worked so well. The foil was from the Copper roll that come with this month's Glimmer of the Month and I applied it to white card.  I wasn't keen on the white lines so I inked over with shade of yellow and orange

Next I cut the cat and some of the foilage from the September Small Diof the Month and arrnaged everything on a black card blank, I used orange card for the cats eyes, then tiny gold gem over the orange to make them really glint! I also glued some gold gems for the ow's eyes too

To finish I made the tag using part of one of the Glimmer sentiments from this month's club kit, foiled ontp black and matted onto orage card, then added a couple of strands of matching waxed twine

 Materials

 Other

Black card blank
White  Cardstock for reverse foiling
coloured cardstock for die cutting
Glass Pens
Waxed Twine
