Desert Island Dream

 Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

Today I've something for this Daring Cardmakers' challenge to share:

Desert Islands and Sailing Ships
This week, be inspired by the book Robinson Crusoe, which  first appeared in paperback on this day April 25th, 1719.
Written by Daniel Defoe it was based partly on the story of Alexander Selkirk who was marooned on a Pacific island for four years.

Do you have the 'Desert Island Dream?
Would you like to sail away?

Create anything you like cards, tags, postcards or 3D project
Its up to you

This was a great opportunity to use Spellbinders'
Summertime Vacay - Large Die of the Month Club,  June 2024

It's no longer available in the US store, but it is still in the UK store at a bargain £15 - I think you'll need to be quick oif you want to get your hands on it!
The background is a piece of pearlised aqua cardstock. I made the 'sea' using faber Castel pastels with a good amount of swooshing about with water to acheive a deeper shade than the sky
I cut the little island twice, one slightly darker to look like wet sand and overlapped them slightly.  I added white glitter glue to the white wavelet piece.
The palm trees were made by hand cutting the tree trunkx, and using a die from another set for the leaves - its actually extra leaves for a pineapple from a tropical themed die set, but its good to mix sets up, isn't it!

  Turquoise pear;ised card for background
White card coloured with Faber Castel pastels
Inked card for island
Scraps of green, brown, white and red card for other elements
Clear and aqua acrylic stones for water bubbles
White glitter glue to highlight 'wavelets'

3Club Gift Wallet

 Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

Today I'm sharing a project that uses 3 of the April club kits from Spellbinders

I've made a gift card wallet which has a special pop up holder for sliding a gift card, voucher or maybe bank notes into (see top photo)

When closed it looks like this, with a ribbon closure held in place with the lovely deep blue and white seal

I added a foiled layer to the cover of the wallet using the Glimmer plate and blue foil, and used one of the sentiments "Open Me for a Smile" fixed only to the flap section

Inside there's a plain white piece for writing a message. Then the flip out holder for the gift card, and the inside back of the wallet are decorated with the lovely tulips from the April Small Die club

I used:

 (Petal Postage)

April Glimmer of the Month
'Scattered Letters' plate and  sentiment. Blue foil

12x12 Royal Blue card, Blue ribbon,
scraps of pink and green card for die cutting

It's in the Post; Scattered Letters

Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

Today I've a bit of a collage project to share using the  'Petal Postage' April Wax Seal of the Month and the 'Scattered Letters' April Glimmer of the Month

I bet Spellbinders didn't know when they themed the April kits around sending snail mail that !!th April is a significant day in British postal history, and perfect for today's Daring Cardmakers' challenge!
It's In The Post

April 11th 1855, London
Britain's first pillar boxes are installed, and were a green-bronze colour
The iconic bright red everyone recognises was adopted in 1874
Be inspired by all things 'snail-mail' this week; stamps, letters, mail boxes, postcards
How about actually sending what you make and surprising a friend!

Create anything you like cards, tags, postcards or 3D project
Its up to you!
I took the collage effect of the Scattered Letters Glimmer plate background a step further by foiling it on different colours of card, then cutting out some of the 'letters' to build my collage bacground,  I used a dark green card blank so they would really show up well.
I adhered a small length of lace across the envelopes, then die cut lots of little flowers and leaves in the same pastel colours using Scallop Journal Cards from the Simple Vintage Flower Shoppe Collection
I used the bottom left of these seals for this collage.  It's another 3 layer one using the 'pour and scrape technique'; white flowers, green trellis, blue base layer. I trimmed down the base layer to leave the postage stamp shape, then matted this onto white and green card, I and added some tiny gems to the flower centres and glued in place, adding a small ribbon bow at the lower corner. To finish I added a few scattered pearls and gems

Petal Postage

Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

Today I've a Wax Seal project to share using the fabulous 'Petal Postage' April Wax Seal of the Month

I really love this one and had a ball seeing what I could do with it.  We were over in Southwold a couple of weeks ago and I took my wax gear with me to play with while OH was busy doing pre-season jobs on our flat there.

Here's some of the seals I made with it

I've used the seal on the top right on this card. This seal has 3 layers; lilac flowers, White for the trellis and postage stamp 'perforated' edge, and Green for the base.  I've used the 'pour and scrape technique' for this, and added some tiny gems to the flower centres
For the card I matched the colours in the seal and chose a deep purple card base, a lilac panel with torn edge topped with an embossed panel (Tufted 3D Embossing Folder) of the deep purple.  I was lucky to match the green of the seal from my supplies so cut a thin strip to use on the panel and for cutting the leafy sprigs (Sealed Leaf Sprigs).
For the sentiment I used part of one of those that come as part of the Glimmer set along with the matching die - I just cut off the part I wanted and backed it with lilac card.

To finish I added a few scattered gems

I used:

 (Petal Postage)

Purple card, Lilac card, Green card
Tiny gems

Postman Snail

Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

I've been playing with some of the Spellbinders Club Kits for April and I love the 'Snail-Mail' vibe they have this month.  I love the immediacy of email and all the various messaging options we have, and wouldn't want to be without them, but I do really miss getting cards, postcards and written notes through the letterbox!

So here's the super-cute Postman Snail, star of the April Small Die of the Month and the fab 'Scattered Letters' Glimmer of the Month plate  to start off my project sharing for this month

I used blue foil on light blue card to create the background, then adhered it to a piece of 'airmail paper' created opn the pc and printed out to the size I needed.
The snail was made from inked card in bright colours. Once I'd put him together I made a folding hinge to use behind him and lift him away from the background - you can just about see it on the photo below.  The hinge folds flat for posting.

The mailbox, the tulips, the little worm and the extra 'envelopes' are all in this die set too
To complete I used one of the two sentiments and die that come as part of the Glimmer set

I used:

Pale Blue card, white card for inking, scraps of coloured card
Homemade 'air-mail' stripes paper

April Sentimental Challenge; With Sympathy

Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place!
Here's where I share the things I've been making, and sometimes other bits of waffle!
Today is Daring Cardmakers day and it's the first Friday of the monthso time for a Monthly Sentimental Challenge
The theme for April is
With Sympathy
Perhaps the hardest of all the cards we make, its often difficult to express how much we care for someone experiencing so much pain and sorrow.
But Sympathy and Condolence cards mean so much to those who grieve
These challenges help us grow our stock of cards for those times we need something special and thoughtful.

I decided on a simple Navy, Pale Pink and White colour paletter with a little silver to add n extra 'lift'
The sentiment was created on the pc.  Using my graphics program (Paint Shop Pro) I make a set of different sentiments in different fonts on one 'background  save it then I can resize it to print when needed.  I can also change the colours, or maybe blank out one part to add a less used or one-off sentiment in its place - like on the blue version shown among the variants below

Silver thread, Blue gem
