Christmas SPARKLE

  Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place! Here's where I share the things I've been making, and sometimes other bits of waffle!
Today  my card is inspired by this week's One Word Prompt at the Daring Cardmakers
Jolly  Crafty Christmas Time
One Word Prompt.
SPARKLE
What do you think of when you read that word?
What will you make inspired by SPARKLE
Remember, anything goes -  make Tags, Bags, Cards, Décor, Boxes... whatever  takes your fancy and fits the theme - Christmas themed or not - it's up to you

i don't think I've made any bauble cards for the last couple of Christmasses, but this year I have a new die set to play with and this challenge was just perfect to wallow in sparkle and shine of those beautiful baubles I remember from childhood. So I made this....

These gorgeous dies are from Simon Hurley's Vintage Layered Ornaments and I love them! There are so many possibilities for putting them together, and I think they look amazing when cut in all the lovely shiny, glittery, textured card I love to use at Christmas.
I'm also really 'into' using coloured card this year and a bit of glitz and glimmer really works on them
Here I've used different finishes of silver and turquoise card; there's mirror, glitter, pearlescent and matte card to make each bauble different.
The die set also has dies to make the finials, hanging string and a pretty bow, but as I like to have a bit of added texture  I tied my bows from silver thread
To finish this card I made a foiled sentiment using a Lisa Horton BetterPress set. added some extra loops of silver thread and some punched glitter card stars

Keeping Cosy

While I had the October Small Die of the Month club set from Spellbinders out again I made a second Polar Bear in a scarf card.  This time I made up some of the string of lights from the same set to crate a background, and gave him a rather inadegately sized bobble hat!  This comes from one of the Simon Hurley die sets I bought last Christmas and I thought it looked really cute even if it's not going to keep his head warm!

Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place! Here's where I share the things I've been making, and sometimes other bits of waffle!

This gave me a good opportunity to use the October Small Die of the Month club set from Spellbinders again.  I decided to make the cosy roll neck of his sweater into a scarf this time, by making it up twice then cutting one piece into two sections, gluing inplace to look like the ends of a scarf.
For the background I used a very old die from Memory Box that I didn't recall using, even though its so pretty. Once I'd run it through my machine I realised why I've hardly ever used it - it is an absolutel nightmare to cut properly.  I think I ran it through 4 or 5 times in the end - and used a couple of paper shims AND it still took ages to get all the little bits out.  Even then one of the snowflakes hadn't cut properly.
It is so disppointing when a die turns out to be a duff one

Thankfully the Spellbinders ones worked without a hitch, I added a sentiment from one of last year's Glimmer sentiment sets:
I added some red and white twine and thought one of my wax seals would be a great finishing touch

Christmas Robin (One Word Prompt. BIRD)

Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place! Here's where I share the things I've been making, and sometimes other bits of waffle!
This time I've another card made for the Daring Cardmakers
Jolly Crafty Christmas Time 2024 and this time it was a One Word Prompt - which means there's just a single word to inspire your crafting and you can take it wherever the mood takes you.

One Word Prompt.

BIRD

How will you interpret the word BIRD on your project this week?
Remember it doesn't have to be Christmas themed, and you can share anything you make; Tags, Bags, Cards, Decor, Boxes - just as loing as its inspired by the theme

I've recently bought a cute little bird die set and this was the perfect opportunity to get it out of the packet.  One of the reasons I wanted this one is because it reminded me of the robins we see in the garden and I thought I'd only need to punch out a red circle to transform this birdie into a cute Christmas Robin.
All the dies are from Spellbinders sets.  The sentiment is hot-foiled in goldusing the sentiment plate from October's Glimmer of the Month set, which is fabulous! I thought it needed a bit of sparkle so started with a square of white glitter paper, before arranging the snetiment, bird, poinsettia, pine cone and foliage on top and gluing in place

Turtle Birthday Balloons

  Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place!

The Small Die of the Month club from Spellbinders this Novemberhas a couple of very cute critters (turtle and sloth), some clouds, a lovely and always useful bunch of balloons and a sweet Birthday Bliss banner sentiment

They call it 'Small' but it's not small in the quantity of dies you get!

I used the turtle (because he's the cutest!) and the balloons from the set for this one. I find balloons are my favourite go-to image for so many cards - often when I'm a bit stuck for an idea for men and boy cards! I  cut down one of the wax seals made with the Wax Seal of the Month to a simple square and added twine and a bow to make a gift, then hand-cut some more to go with it.

I used:

Small Die of the Month club

  Wax Seal of the Month

Birthday 'Confetti' on Black and White cards

 Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place!

This time I've a couple of cards using Spellbinders' fab Glimmer of the Month club kit for November.  You get a confetti background plate, a sentiment and die set plus some lovely multicolour 'confetti' foil

The two cards I'm sharing today use the same foil and the same Glimmer plate, but I've done one on black card and the other on white.

This one with the white background uses

Confetti plate from the Glimmer of the Month club

the balloons from the Small Die of the Month Club

and the sentiment seal from the Wax Seal of the Month club

Now check out how it all looks on a black background!

Again the Confetti plate from the Glimmer of the Month club

and the balloons and sentiment banner from the Small Die of the Month Club

I just love the way the design looks so different on the light and dark cardstock. This plate will be great for loads of different occasions just by changing the foil

Mad Wax!

 Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place!

I've been having a lot of fun crafting using Spellbinders November club kits! This time they have a celebratory kind of theme, with cute dies, various sentiments, a wonderul confetti Glimmer plate and a fabulous Happy Birthday Wax Seal - which I'm going to start my project shares with!

thought I'd have a bit of fun and do some mad stuff with wax this time

To get this 'streamers' effect, I used two wax furnaces at the same time, melting the green wax in one and the red in the second.

Pour the green onto the silicone mat quickly moving the spoon back and forth to get a kind of 'weave' pattern.  Add a couple more beads to the spoon and warm again

Wait till the green is again melted and ready

zigzagpattern over the top of the green pattern as before.

Now pour more green wax in the middle (as you normally would when making a seal) and apply the stamp. The colours will mix together a bit and hopefully you'll like the result!

Slide a palette knife under the wax and carefully lift the whole thing up

Here's another, with a little less 'streamer' madness, this time in red and black wax

I used the balloons from the Small Die of the Month club and matched the colours of the seals to make these 2 card, I think they'll be perfect for some of the males in my life (I'm always short of cards for them)

I used:

Small Die of the Month club

 Wax Seal of the Month

Left Overs 2

 Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place!

Do you keep your left-over Christmas die cuts from one year to another like me?

I just can't throw them away - and this year I found several boxes of extra trees, leaves, snowflakes. stars and all the rest!

So I thought I'd make an effort to use at least some of them up, so I'm going to share what happened when I tried to make a dent in my Left Overs.

For the first 2 I started by using a couple of new Glimmer plates to hot foil a large sentiment directly onto coloured card blanks

Glimmer sentiment foiled in gold
Assorted gold tree die cuts left over from last year
Gold ribbon

Glimmer sentiment foiled in silver
Assorted turquoise tree die cuts left over from last year
Silver thread, red and silver punched stars

Printed sentiment left over from last year
Assorted gold and turquois sprigs, stars and snowflake die cuts left over from last year

Still not much of a dent in the ready cut pieces but hopefully I can come up with more ideas for making use of them.

Pine Cones and Fairy Lights

Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place! Here's where I share the things I've been making, and sometimes other bits of waffle!
This week sees the start of the Daring Cardmakers
Jolly Crafty Christmas Time 2024

For the challenges leading up to Christmas we'll give you either a picture or a word prompt each week and then the rest is up to you!
Anything Goes - you're free to make anything that takes your fancy that fits the theme.
Tags, Bags, Cards, Décor, boxes, and all kinds of trimmings - whatever you want to make, Christmas themed or not - it's up to you

It all starts off today with a picture prompt

November Elemental Inspiration Challenge.
What to make: Anything Goes!
Christmas themed or not
Just choose a minimum of 3 elements to use when you make your project.

My main choices were the colour palette. Baker's Twine, and Pine Cones, but there are other things from the picture wheich found their way in!

All the dies are from Spellbinders sets.  The sentiment is hot-foiled in white (I love the effect!) using the sentiment plate from October's Glimmer of the Month set, which is fabulous! I think the pine cone set and the tree light set were from last year or even earlier
I added in some extra leafy sprigs and holly cut in green and gold to fill out the design
