Celebrate the Sun

Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

Today I'm sharing my card for the Daring Cardmakers challenge and I've made another creation with a wobbling element this week

Celebrate the Sun

We all like to see the sun, so whether its the summer solstice
in the Northern Hemisphere or the winter solstice where you are,
make sure the sun features on your projects this week
Create anything you like - cards, tags, postcards, 3D projects
this week - and don't forget to share them with us!

I used ink and water to create the blue background.  Fot the sun I used yellow card, adding deeper shades of yellow, orange and a little red to make it more fiery! there's another die layer between the face and the rest of the sun - I used a tonic fluted circle for this and inked it a bit darker

I thought that as the finished sun is quite big (about 6cms diameter) I should used some slightly thicker wire to make the spring and slightly bigger wire circles to connect it to the base and the sun.

. Here you can see the wire spring that forms the wobbler

I inked a piece of white card with yellow, orange and red stripes, then blended them together before die cutting the word.  I also cut a further 3 layers from blue card before adhering them all together and gluein in place.
The clouds were die cut from thin white card and lightly inked on the lower edges with a very soft blue shade.
The largest cloud is mounted on a tiny white pop up mechanism, the others raised slightly on pieces of thick card
The flowers were left over from another project and made the perfect finishing touch

I used:

from Spellbinders

The sun is from a Very old Sun die set!  (currently unavailable)

'Hugs' is also from an old set (currently unavailable)
Yellow card from Colourwheel collection

Tiny flowers from my leftovers box
Inks for background and adding to the sun and the sentiment
Homemade wire wobbler

Seas the Day

  Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

It's Spellbinders Club time again and I've got another Wax Seal of the Month  card to share.

We sent out for Fish and Chips one night last week and they arrived in a paper carrier bag decorated with a pattern of waves and trawlers. Well. That wasn't going straight in the recycling was it?  I did check that there was no whiff of fish and chips though before chopping it up to add to my stash.
Anyway, I decided to use a piece for the background of this card straightaway!
I then built up the bottom of the sea collage using the shell, waves, clouds and seaweed dies from one of last year's Spellbinders collections, and added in some silk leafy, seaweedy 'stuff'' for extra interest.

Next I added the lovely wax seal and finished it all off with the Happy Birthday sentiment from the June Glimmer of the Month club kit

Regatta Season

Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

It's Spellbinders Club time again!

for this card I've used June's  Deluxe Caboodle Bonus Item which is a die set to create the cutest little yacht  and the Wax Seal of the Month

One yacht was just not enough so I made five!  And I decided to make them in pretty pink tomes of card from the ColorWheel Cardstock Pack 8.5" x 11"

For all the background images I've used a variety of digital downloads from my ever-growing collection!

To make the pop up waves I used box hinges behind all the different wave pieces. I strengthened the masts of the yachts with an extra die cut of black card, trimmed down so it's mainly just the mast and a little piece of the boat and sails,  This just gives enough extra strength to keep the yachts upright.
Once I'd created the scene and stuck everything in place I added the Happy Birthday sentiment from the June Glimmer of the Month club kit

To keep it all closed and the surpise hidden I made a band using a couple of caard strips wrapped with twine that matches the colours of the boats, and a wax seal from the set I made a couple of weeks ago
I had a lot of fun making this one, and I hope you like it!

Anniversary

Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

Today I'm sharing my card for the new Daring Cardmakers challenge:

June's Monthly Sentimental:

Anniversary

On the first Friday of each month we concentrate on a specific sentiment.  as usual, we'll create, and share our ideas and we'd love you to join us keep the inspiration going

Create anything you like cards, tags, postcards or 3D project, and don't forget ot share them with us

Our wedding anniversary is coming up in a few weeks time so I thought I'd make a card for hubby.  I'm nopt sure if this is the one I will give him though  - there are some things I like, and some things I'm not so pleased with. I've time to come up with another idea though!

I love the navy, soft blue and gold colour combo
All the sentiment phrases I've used to make my own little messages are from the  March Glimmer of the Month.  I used gold foil on the lighter blue card then chopped them up to make the messages

I used:

from Spellbinders
2 shades blue card from Colourwheel collection
Indigo and Celestial

All messages created using sentiments from March Glimmer of the Month
Gold Glimmer foil

Heart dies
LOVE die
(I don't have the labels from either set, sorry)
White card base
Matte Gold card

Anchors Aweigh

Hello

welcome to my little crafting place!

It's Spellbinders Club time again!

for this card I've used June's Wax Seal of the Month and Glimmer of the Month sets

I've been wanting to get my hands on an anchor seal for a while, so I was really happy when this one arrived! Plus the 'ink' wax that comes in this set is really, really beautiful.

After playing around with the seal stamp and making a batch of seals I decided to keep it simple and made this card, which I think has a masculine kind of feel

Here's the first batch of seals I made using this one. I made most of these using the pour and scrape method and most worked really well.  I did have a couple of mishaps but that's the way it goes.  The weird mishapen seal was a 'cobbled together' one - the anchor section came out well in my initial pour and scrape step, but the letters went very wrong.  I thought I could add just the anchor to a plain blob of wax but I was a bit 'fingers and thumbs' and it went a bit wrong.  I liked the colours though so thought I'd share it anyway!

I love the fishing net plate that along with a couple of sentiment strips and some pretty opal foil makes up the Glimmer of the Month kit. Perfect for lovers of the seaside and cards for fishing enthusiasts!  Oh and maybe it could be used to hint at net bags - those used for oranges maybe!

Anyway, I wanted a Navy theme so used white foil on Cosmic Sky cardstock from the colourwheel collection for the background.

I tied a few strands of white twine down the card just in from the edge, then made the horizontal panel with strips of

smooth white card, made the bunting with handcut triangles of the blue and red card on a length of red twine, then adhered the seal in place.

I might add the 'Happy Birthday' foil sentiment to this one before I send it.
