with the Papercraft Inspirations Blog Party this weekend?
It's all to coincide with World Card-makiung Day - a call to card-makers everywhere to get down and busy with ink, scissors, glue and paper - or whatever our own particular cardmaking vice might be!
The Papercraft Inspirations team decided on a Christmas theme and you can find lots to inspire you by clicking on the link - including a "trends" article by the DCM's very own Jo Kill, who writes regularly for the magazine.
The Daring Cardmakers were among lots of British crafting groups and individuals who were asked if they'd like to join in and if you visit to the DCM BLOG this weekend you'll not only find the latest dare which was published yesterday, but also our own little contribution to the Blog Party by way of some Christmas cards and the instructions on how to make them.
Here's the card I've made - you'll find the instruction and a list of the things I used on the DCM blog
Yesterday saw the launch of Lythan's challenge on the Get Funky! challenge blog.
Now, every month Anice gives away £20 to spend on Funky Hand products - to be in with a chance of winning all you need to do is create something for the challenge and make sure you use at least one Funky Hand product on it. If you don't have any you can still join in as on the Funky Hand website there's even a little set of freebies for you to download - what a brilliant way to join in and if you win then you'll be able to buy some download collections or use the voucher to buy a CD (and you'll still have money left over to spend on more FH stuff too! We couldn't make it much easier for you to join in, could we?
Lythan asked us to use at least FIVE papers on a project this month and I chose to make a little book.
These fabulous "Salt and pepper" designs are available for download from the Funky Hand website and are among some of my favourites - I couldn't really decide which 5 of the papers to use for my project so I just used lots!
The book is based on one I did a tutorial for a couple of months back. This time I used two 12x6" strips of Bazzell each of which was creased at 4" intervals along the long edge, then the pocket was folded up at 2". I glued the ends of the long pockets in place then joined the 2 strips together with a folded strip of spare card. The concertina of pocket pages was then kept together with another strip of card to make the cover, you can see the basic instructions for the pocket book HERE.
I'm using this book to keep some favourite quotes - I just printed them out and glued them to black card tags trimmed with gorgeous ribbon. I thought they looked a bit dull so then added some tiny punched squares and circles to jazz them up a bit - great for using even the tiniest of scraps too!
Don't miss your chance to win, check out Get Funky! HERE
I've been making a start on the great Blog Catch Up today - everyone's been so busy and I've missed so much!
Thanks for visiting, hope you liked what you saw and will come again soon

I just love the papers you've put together on your 'C' card and that bow and beads are fabulous. A neat little book too... a lovely place to keep those special quotes.

Great projects there Kathy. I love the beads hanging from the ribbon on the Christmas card. :)
I'm shocked to see a C card on your blog so early Kathy lol! Love, love, love the quote book. That is such a nifty little book.
Yes, I HAVE joined in! Glad to see someone else has heard of WCMD, no-one over here had a clue what I was on about this morning in the craft shop! Oh well, my project is posted over on the challenge site. Great cards, love them all. Does this mean you're going to be organised and make more 'C' cards, snigger!!!
Hugs

What a fab Christmas (there..I've said it!) card..you were forced into it I know..same as me this early it's something that you have to do to help other people be inspired!! Your Salt and Pepper book is just fantastic. I'm so lucky to have such talented crafters on my Design Team.

Fab projects! Will hop over to DCM in a mo. The thought of being forced to use five patterned papers is enough to bring me out in hives though!
Hi Kathy. Glad you had a great break up here in Yorkshire. It's a good job you weren't here in all this rain. We've turned into ducks now.
We have some great little lanes and hills don't we!! Did you find any gated roads. It's a pity you didn't let us know you were about, you could have called in for a cuppa!!
Gorgeous cards and I love your quote book.
Where's your desk been lately!!!
Hugs Lisax
Beautiful Christmas card--the little bead ornaments compliment the fun tree perfectly. Your little tag book is awesome--those papers are delectable. On my way to check them out. TFS!
Beautiful book of quotes Kathy... I don't usually use black and white but it looks really impressive
