It's Love - in Red & White

Bit of a last minute panic at the Daring Cardmakers this week as we were planning a dare featuring a fabby sponsor but the lovely stash we were expecting to be using is held up somewhere in the postal system and hasn't arrived in our sticky mitts! Fingers crossed it arrives in time for next week then, come on Mr Postman, get on to it please.....
So we came up with something else instead and have been frantically making cards so that another substitute dare can go live on time.
This week we'd like to see some lovey dovey cards - could be Valenties, but other romantic themes are fine too - the twist is we'd like you to use a Red & White colour combo

Talk about pressure! Not only waiting till the last minute in the hope that the sponsored stash came through, but then a colour theme that I don't think I've ever used before - and as I discovered have very little stuff in that colourway to play with.

The hearts are made with serendipity paper - I got my scrap box out and found all the red bits of paper, cut some little pieces off and glued them onto thin card. I cut the hearts with the cuttlebug die then UTEEd them. To be honest, I think I overdid this because the different scraps of paper aren't as visible as I'd have liked.

The red & white paper came from one of last summer's SA Kits, I really struggled to find anything in red and white that I could use, there must be papers out there, but they aren't in my collection, that's for sure!
Did some inking, added a tiny tag for the message and sneaked in some heart shaped silver brads because it didn't look right without a bit of shine.
You can check out the cards from the rest of the Team on the DCM blog, and find out who won out Paper Pesto Lucky dip prize too.

I'm busy with a few commissioned cards at the moment, one is all but done, but not quite, so I'll have to show that another day. It's a funny thing though - this one is the 3rd 60th birthday card I've made in the last few weeks, all for different women and all with different names all beginning with the letter J.
OK so it's not exciting, but there you go....

Gorgeous card Kathy, the hearts look very sumptuous - and it's an optical illusion too, at first glance I thought it was an aperture card where the squares were windows!

Kathy, I find it hard to believe that in all that stash or yours that I’ve seen there’s hardly any red. Lol! Well actually I struggled to find some too so I’ll let you off this time.

Stunning card from you again and the UTEE’d hearts are just perfect.

What a fabby card Kathy. And the strips of card idea is just so inspired :)
I would have used that paper but I already used it all up. One of the best SA kits for card making I found, rather to my surprise!

Thanks for your comment on my blog Kathy.
I have NO!! red and white papers at all - can you believe that ?? They are not colours I would go for first but after this challenge, I might just have to find some because I really like it.

Happy Crafting.
