Today I'm posting my project here and on the Bubbly Funk Blog which is worth visiting as there are lots of ideas and inspiration to be found there!
I've only used a section of a much bigger stencil to make this one, and lots of lovely blue tones in ink and glitter gel.
I
used Distress Inks in several blue shades for this project, and started
by giving a piece of white card about the same size as my card front
(15cms sq) a very light inking with the palest of the colours.
When
dry I selected the area of the stencil I wanted to focus on and taped
it down in the middle of the inked card. I masked it off to leave an
area a good few cms larger than the aperture I would cut in the card
front.
Next I added colours until I was happy with the effect. I
didn't want it to be a consistent colour so it was all about adding the
different inks gradually.
It
seemed to need something more.....so out came the Sparkle Medium - I mixed a couple of colours together and applied with a palette knife
To
finish the card I cut the aperture with a square die, trimmed down the
stencilled piece and adhered it inside the card front. The teal coloured strips of the frame are cut using a die
which is actually the stamen from one of those quilling flower dies. It
cuts 4 at the same time, and is considerably more accurate than trying to cut with a guillotine!
The butterfly, and the "hello" are also die cuts, and there's a bit of Stickles Glitter glue for extra sparkle
