Flowers for February

I'm sure that Friday is coming round much quicker than it used to! And Friday is Daring Day and a new challenge for Daring Cardmakers everywhere.  First though a quick reminder that you can see Anice of Funky Hand in action twice today on Create and Craft TV today.
The first show was shown at 10 (just missed that one...) but Anice is recording a second "live" show at 2pm today - I think there are repeats of these programmes over the weekend too.  We've set the recording devices again of course hehe
This is one of the cards I made for the shows, I've used a beautiful set of papers called "My July" for this one.  The flower is also made using the papers - I like to use some double-sided photo paper from the PaperMill Direct shop as it has a really good weight and prints so well on both sides - which is fab for flowers and lots of other papercrafting jobs too.

Now on to The Daring Cardmakers for this week
It's the first Friday of the month so it's back to our Flowers of the Month series for 2011 and we've been taking inspiration from the flowers associated with the month of February
which are the Violet and the Primrose

The traditional meanings of these flowers are  Modesty, Faithfulness, Virtue and Young Love, and the colours associated with Violets and Primroses areThe colours associated with them are shades of Violet, Sky Blue and Yellow- so plenty there to get the ideas flowing.
Here's my Primrose card
I found some free clipart on the net which gave the basic leaf and flower shapes and converted them to cut on the Craft Robo. I then cut them in different sizes to give a more realistic look and built up my "picture" on a card scrap before attaching it to the card.
I used:
Both background papers from Funky Hand "Craft the Year Away CD
Bazzill card (green, yellow) - I inked the green card up with Cats Eye ink pads in other shades of green before I cut the leaves.
Lace (2 lengths used) and green seam binding for the rosette both from Creative Treasures
narrow green ribbon and green gems from stash
Spellbinders Lacey Circles die (Charmed Cards and Crafts)
I'm happy to share this Craft Robo template, so if you would like a copy please email me and I'll send the file to you.
There are some beautiful cards to see on the DARING BLOG this week, including one from our lovely new Guest Designer Chrissie who is joining us this month, so please pop over and check out the blog for more inspiration and to find out how to join in - we'd love it if you'd play along with us.
So far it's been "one of those days" so I'm hoping it's going to settle down a bit from now!
Thanks for visiting, please leave a comment - they are always much appreciated.
