So Many Left-Overs!

 Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place!

Do you keep your left-over Christmas die cuts from one year to another like me?

I just can't throw them away - and consequently this year I found several boxes of extra trees, leaves, snowflakes. stars and all the rest! So I thought I'd make an effort to use at least some of them up.

I've used the Glimmer of the Month club set and coloured cardstock to make   the backgrounds for these. I spent a little while hot foiling with the Glimmer plate using various colours ofcard and different coloured foils.
Then I cut these in half so I could make two cards with just one hot-foiled
piece, sneaky, eh?

These pink ones have a holographic turquoise foil and I used matching shades of trees and stars from the left-overs boxes. The sentiments were some I made last year too.
I've already used quite a few poinsettias on cards this season, but I also found a box with some others in. I've usde a lightish green card and gold foil for these two and some holly from the scraps boxes

To be quite honest, I've not made the smallest dent in the ready cut pieces, I must have gone bonkers last year when I was cutting shapes - but hopefully I can come up with more ideas for making use of them.

Sunflower Bouquet

Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place! Here's where I share the things I've been making, and sometimes other bits of waffle!
This week it was my turn to choose the challenge for the Daring Cardmakers, and it's all about today being International Artis's Day.
So today I'm sharing the card I've made

Art for Art’s Sake
Pablo Picasso was born on 25th October,1881.
Apparently it’s also International Artist’s Day today, so this week be inspired by art, artists and artist’s paraphernalia!
Be inspired by a favourite artist or a specific art-work, or maybe feature an easel, or paint palette, brushes, paint splatters etc
See what we made here

Can you guess what work of art inspired me this week? 🤣
I made the background just by inking in different shades of blue and brown, using washi tape to help get a straight line! I kept the rest of the inky edges a bit blurred though because I wasn't in the mood for too much in the way of straight lines!
All the dies are from recent Spellbinders sets.  I do have some speficially sunflower die sets, but these aren't -  I chose them because those in Van Gogh's painting are more random and maybe what you'd describe as tatty?
His flower arranging skills are a bit like mine!
I decided against a vase and instead made them more of a bouquet with the addition of a double bow of organza ribbon.

Jolly Penguins!

  Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place!

This month the Spellbinders club kits will help you on the way with your Christmas crafting!

The Small Die of the Month club is really cute, there's an adorble polar bear warmly dressed in a jumper, with a string of lights to wind around him, and my favourite of this set - a sweet happy penguin with a string of lights just a little smaller than Mr Bear's!

For my first card I just had to use the penguin

I made up three little penguins, and four strings of lights, then arranged them on my card as though they were all helping to sort out the lights.

Before I glued them down I used the large plate from the Glimmer of the month club and some white foil to create the background driectly onto my card.  It doesn't show up well on the photo but its really deeply de-bossed 'in the real'

Once I'd arranged the penguins and glued them in place I chose the So Very Merry sentiment from Lisa Horton's BetterPress Essential Tag Accessories and hot-foiled it in shiny blue to complete the card

Another Glimmer of the Month card

 Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place!

This month the Spellbinders club kits will help you on the way with your Christmas crafting, and I've shared a few of the things I've made using my three club kits.

Today I've used the Glimmer of the Month club set and made something a bit different, at least for me!

So I thought I'd share a quick post to see what you thought of this one.

This time I coloured the foiled piece with metallic pens from my wax seal highlighting stuff, and gave the lights a coat of Glossy Accents for extra shine. Then I cut the foiled panel in half and added one piece to the top of the card and the other to the lower edge.

I added gold and white strips between them and decorated with narrow shiny red strips and the sentiment from the Glimmer set foiled in red

To finish there's a wax thread bow with a glitter card dot in the middle

Card; Wax Seal of the Month - October

 Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place!

This month the Spellbinders club kits will help you on the way with your Christmas crafting!  I mentioned on an earlier how fab the Glimmer of the Month plate is, so here's another card - similar to the turquoise one I've already shared, but this time using the Wax Seal of the Month to make the sentiment

The red card was foiled with the Aura Gold foil from October's Glmmer club, then the lower edge trimmed around with scissors as before.

Before adding the panel to the card I adhered some strands of gold thread to the top.

The red wax for the seal is from the Christmas Mix wax Seal Beads bag you get with the "Most Wonderful Time of the Year" seal this month

More thread was added to the seal and tied to the upper threads.  The seal was fixed in place with one of the special double-sided sticky circles (also available at Spellbinders) and a gold bow added just above it.

Simple, but striking, I think

Here's a photo of the seals I've made so far - not all perfect as you can see!  In the photo you'll also see the wax bead mix which is part of the club kit, and the seal itself - albeit upside down (oops!)

Furry Friends

Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place! Here's where I share the things I've been making, and sometimes other bits of waffle!
Today I'm sharing the card I've made for Rizwana's challenge to the Daring Cardmakers challenge this week:

Furry Pet Friends

Our host Rizwana says;
Create a card featuring your favourite pet if you have one or the one you'd choose if you had the chance!
Let’s celebrate all our furry friends this week.
You could even add their photos to your cards!
We don't have any pets, but I think if we did, it would be a dog.

I was absolutely terrified of dogs when I was a child, but my brother always wanted to have one, and eventually got his way. We got a little brown puppy who was just adorable, but was always trying to make a break for freedom.  He might be the only dog who escaped and ran back to the kennels where he'd been staying while we were away!

Anyway, as usual I've gone off on a trip down Memory Lane, so back to the challenge!

This seemed like a good excuse to get Gromit out again - did you recognise him?

I then used some bits that were already out on my desk to give him a background and hunted around for some kind of sentiment to use, settling on a simple 'hello' wax seal made for a past Spellbinders Wax Seal of the Month club

Thank you so much for coming by.

Gold Box using Glimmer and Wax seal

Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place!

This month the Spellbinders club kits will help you on the way with your Christmas crafting!  I'm concentrating on the Wax Seal of the Month today, but the Glimmer of the Month club will also feature - as I can't stop using it!

First, here's a quick photo of the seals I've made so far - not all perfect as you can see!  In the photo you'll also see the wax bead mix which is part of the club kit, and the seal itself - albeit upside down (oops!)

I recently 'upgraded' my melting spoons to these non-stick ones and they are a game changer! If you just let unused wax cool in them for a while, you can just lever the 'blob' out - like the green, white and gold blobs beside the spoon. So much easier than having to clean out the metal ones, and the wax blobs are easy to keep ready for next time

So, I thought I'd make a box to feature this seal on.  This box is made with a (very) old Spellbinders die set, but there are newer ones still available which would be perfect.  I just haven't got round to grabbing the die sets yet!  Plus these dies just don't go out of fashion, do they>

I'd already made some seals so I chose the red and gold one and made my box to match. I cut more ot the gold card for the decorative panels and foiled them with red foil and the Glimmer of the Month plate.

I made a tassel from gold thread, added a length of red ribbon across the top of the box, then the wax seal and tassel and ribbon bow at the top.

Now I just need to buy someone a gift that will fit inside!

Glimmer of the month - October

 Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place!

This month the Spellbinders club kits will help you on the way with your Christmas crafting! Possibly my favourite of the October club kits I have is the Glimmer of the Month. The main plate features a twirling string of fairy lights which is great to use as a background or the main focus.  You also get a lovely sentiment and corresponding die to cut it out if you want to.

My first card shows off the plate as the main element of my design, and I've already made a few cards on this same theme as it works so well!

I chose some turquoise card and used the Aura gold foil that comes with this club set. Once foiled I just used scissors to cut around the lower edge of the design. I glued a few strips of card onto the back to get just a small amount of dimension then added it to my card blank.

Along the crease I added some gold thread, a bow and a turquoise gem. The lovely sentiment is also in the club kit as is the die for cutting it - in this instance I made 2 extra die cuts and glued them together. To finish a few small red gems were added

So, a simple design but one that I think works really well and looks good in many colours - I'll share some more another time!

Glimmering Threesome

 Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place!

This month the Spellbinders club kits will help you on the way with your Christmas crafting, and I've shared a few of the things I've made using my three club kits.

Today I thought I'd just share a quick post showing some cards made using the Glimmer of the Month club - as I can't stop using it!

These three just use the plate in the same way - I've already blogged the Turquoise one and the red one, but I've also made a black one, and I've a feeling there may be others still to be made!

Cosy Polar Bear using October's Die of the Month Club -

 Hello!

Welcome to my little crafting place!

This month the October Spellbinders club kits will help you on the way with your Christmas crafting!

The Small Die of the Month club is really cute, there's an adorbale polar bear warmly dressed in a jumper, with a string of lights to wind around him, and a sweet happy penguin with a string of lights just a little smaller than Mr Bear's!

For this card I made up the Polar Bear, and gave him a box hinge on his back so that he stands right out ftom the card but folds flat for posting

I hot-foiled the golden lights background using the large plate from the Glimmer of the month then added the hinged bear.  Next I added some strings of lights (my OH looks like this when the lights have got themselves in a knot!)

He looked a bit lonely so I added a couple of trees cut using the little tree die from Lisa Horton's Nested Tree Frame and to finish another sentiment from her BetterPress Essential Tag Accessories  hot-foiled in shiny blue
