Flowers, Flutterbyes and A Star

First for today is the new LO idea I've just loaded onto my other blog "The Sketch File
Click HERE to visit the Sketch File and find out more
This is the first card I've made using the May Sketch.  Papers and sentiment are BG Colour Me Silly.  The numerals and the star shape were Robo cur.
I think it works pretty well for a 10 year old boy's card - nice and easy to put together which is exactly what I need as kids' cards don't come naturally for me hehehe

If you like flowers and butterfly images the head over to Funky Hand as the new image download is just full of them both!

I've used some of the flowers to make this card
The papers are from the Salt & Pepper download collection

I cut the "entire" flower and leaf shapes and also just the outlines of each in different sizes using Mr Robo, then layered the flowers and leaves up.  The edges aren't lined up accurately as I was trying to achieve a less rigid, formal appearance - but actually, I'm not sure it worked - maybe it just looks as though I got it wrong ho hum....
The stem is just hand cut from the same black card used for the outlines, the card blank is a tall DL size, so I embossed the pale grey background piece at each end with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder to make a piece long enough,  - the ribbon disguises the gap quite conveniently!
One of the flowers has a punched daisy in the middle, all have diamanté star or circles in their centres

My big butterfly is also cut using the Craft Robo, I cut two layers, using only the outlines.
I used small pieces of mulberry paper to fill in the wing shapes then covered all the messy ends by adhering the second cut-out over them.

I attached a length of wire to the underside of the butterfly then used a lump of blutack in the bottom of a little jar of beads.

I might make a few more of these because a little group of them would look very pretty waving around in the jar and the mulberry paper really looks so pretty when it catches the light
I've been crafting like a mad-woman this weekend, so there'll be more to see over the next week or two from my Family May Birthday Craft-a-thon!

Thanks for popping by today and for all the lovely comments and email messages that have been sent recently - I really appreciate every single one of them.

  1. WOW!!!! I love them all.... Love the elegance of the first one; adore the way you propped up the butterfly in the jar; and the textures on the last one are amazing! Sure does make a good boy's card...

PS: But I'm missing your gorgeous handmade flowers... :-(
