How are you doing this fine Friday? If you're anything like me you'll be sneezing, snuffling and watery-eyed thanks to the 'joys' of hay-fever! Moan, moan moan....
Never mind, I was definitely cheered by working on my card for Joanne's Elemental Inspiration picture challenge this week on The Daring Cardmakers - there were lots of lovely things to choose from for my three elements, but the one that chose itself was the colours - my most favourites of all, those glorious blues, turquoises and aqua-greens.
I then chose the squares of the basic picture layout, and the butterfly as my main three elements and made this
Here is Joanne's picture
It was interesting to see that every member of the team went with the colour palette from the picture as one of the elements this time - e could have used say wool, butterfly and feathers or perhaps a cat, bird and peeled paint background and used completely different colours- but no, we all gravitated towards the marine shades!
Info
The mosaic background is stencilled using lots of different inks from the palette
It was trimmed down and matted on black card and then onto
a white card blank
I used the same inks and coloured both sides of some scrap
card to use for my butterfly
The upper, fancy layer of the butterfly was also given a coat of
Glitter Gel and Glossy Accents
Having made up the sentiment piece from black and white card, I used Washi tape to mask off a narrow border then used some of the same inks to fill in the white space.
The Celebrate die cut (2 layers of black card) was added once the whole card was assembled
For some extra interest, I added a few scattered 'dew drops' near the butterfly to echo the pebbles and gorgeous pendant on the photo.
Stencil; Mini Mosaic Tiles (Crafters Workshop)
Butterfly Die cut (Memory Box)
Sparkle Medium Lapis Blue (Imagination Crafts)
'Celebrate' from Celebrate Die D-Lites Etched Dies (Spellbinders)
The Daring Cardmakers blog looks especially beautiful today, and I hope you'll head over to see. We'd love it if you'd join in this time around too
