We got back yesterday from our little anniversary trip to Suffolk. We stayed in Lavenham, a village almost too pretty for words. Wealthy merchants and others left behind a legacy of fantastic medieval buildings - believe it or not there are something like 300 listed buildings in this little place - if you're interested, click HERE to find out more about Lavenham.
The photo above shows where we stayed; a fab B&B called Lavenham Priory - it's all beams and sloping floors and dates back to the 13th Century. Definitely a place to keep in mind if you're ever looking for somewhere atmospheric and romantic to stay - not only is the building wonderful, but there's a lovely garden too, and Tim and Gilli are fab hosts who make you feel so welcome.
We had the Priory Suite - complete with huge four poster and more character than you can shake a stick at.
I've not had time to sort out all the photos but I thought I'd pop this one on because I love these buildings look as though a giant has tried to push them down the hill!
If only the weather could have been brighter and sunnier it would have been perfect (and it would have helped the photos too) - still it could have been worse - it was pretty warm the whole time, and very muggy, but it only drizzled a bit on Saturday morning and stayed dry the rest of the time despite some gloomy looking skies some of the time.
We're already Lifetime Members of English Heritage but we decided to treat ourselves to a year's membership to The National Trust while we were away, so there'll be no excuse for saying "there's nowhere to go" now, will there?
Back to crafty stuff.
Yesterday was the first of the month, so there's a new challenge over on "Get Funky!"
It’s Dolly setting the challenge this time and she's asking for POCKETS on all the projects that are entered.
As always there's a fab prize of £20 to spend in the Funky Hand shop for one lucky winner, but as it's Get Funky's first birthday...{Happy Birthday, Get Funky!} there's something extra on offer if you enter your creation this month - providing the rules are adhered to, of course!
***As an extra something to celebrate our 1st birthday ALL entries that follow the 3 all important rules will receive a prize***

I used the Merry Berry collection from the wonderful Colour Me Happy CD to make an anniversary card for hubby
The whole card is the pocket, and I made it with an integral stand as whilst I love this style of card I find it irritating to have to prop it up against something! The insert carries the message.
All of the papers I've used are from Funky Hand's Merry Berry collection (Colour Me Happy CD).
Also used: ink pads to dye ribbons to match, silver heart and LOVE charms,
Cuttlebug Hugs & Kisses die, MS border punch, Craft Robo to cut the large hearts
I'm sorry, I've not had a chance to do any blog-hopping over the last few days but I'll be putting that right soon - thanks for visiting
Wow! you seem to have had a wonderful stay there! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe card is gorgeous... Love the colors and all those hearts... sigh... ;-)
Will you do a tutorial on your pocket card too...??? Puh-lease! ;-)
Hugs and best wishes,
Smita

Oh what a beautiful place Kathy! Its a shame that Suffolk is so tricky to get to from us :(
ReplyDeleteLoving your card but I can't see an elephant XXX
Glad you had a lovely break, Kathy. Lavenham is so beautiful isn't it. We had lots of holidays in Norfolk and Suffolk when we were younger. Wasn't Lavenham where they filmed Lovejoy, do you remeber that or am I showing my age!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your pocket card. The colours are so bright and cheerful.
Hugs Lisax
